In 1990, the late Mr. Ong Teng Cheong, then Secretary-General of NTUC, proposed developing a golf and country club to make golfing accessible and affordable for Singaporean workers.
His vision was to show that the progress of Singapore is shared by all, ensuring that golf would no longer be a game reserved for executives.
Key milestones
Phase 1
The first phase of the Club development was completed in September 1993. It included the Driving Range, Golf Clubhouse and the first of the three 9-hole courses, the Aranda Course.
Phase 2
The second phase comprised the development of the Vanda and Dendro Courses, the Social Clubhouse and Orchid Golf & Resort Hotel (then Orchid Lodge). Most of Phase II was completed by the end of 1994. By the fourth quarter of 1995, the Dendro Course and the Bowling Alley were opened for play.
Phase 3
The long awaited third phase development of the club featured extra parking lots at the new multi-storey car park. The Olympic Pool Changing Room also featured a sauna.
20th Anniversary
Since then we have grown from strength to strength and OCC celebrated its 20th anniversary in 2013. We also produced a book to commemorate the milestone Click on the link to view the e-book.

The Club’s functional departments comprise Finance, Golf, Hotel, Human Resource, Property & Maintenance, Marketing Communications & Membership, Sales & Marketing, and Social & Recreation.
